Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy: I would really recommend taking this training if you get an opportunity. If I were you, I would probably get training directly from the creator of DBT- Marsha M. Linehan. I heard she has a way of teaching you in such a way that you learn “salesperson skills” so that you can motivate your patient to try these techniques and improve their lives.

Even though it consists of group skills training, individual psychotherapy, telephone consultation, and consultation for the therapist,  and is specifically designed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, it has tons of stuff that you can use for different diagnoses and even for individual treatment.

For some reason, I love these assumptions of DBT, It helps me stay motivated so that I can continue to have faith and also have faith in my patients.  In terms of teaching skills, I end up mostly practicing mindfulness in the sessions and going over emotion regulation skills several times. If you want to learn more about mindfulness and emotion regulation- I wrote about it which I am hoping will help you all.

4th Session: Emotion Regulation

5th Session: Emotion Regulation 2

I love these websites. It has DBT core skills and then different techniques within that core skills (introductions, instruction, worksheets, FAQs). Even the patient can learn, practice, and use these websites. It is amazing.
