COPING SKILLS

Coping skills that they already use: For this session, I usually start with coping skills that they already use. This becomes an interesting topic to help them realize how certain actions can make a huge difference and not only help them focus on one area. It might make them feel good physically, and also feel good about themselves, and help them have positive thoughts. Most of the time, the patients put all of the coping skills on all of them, helping them realize how powerful coping skills are.

MY FAVOURITE RESOURCES: I really like using this one for these resources from thrivetreatment.com and indigodaya.com. These have different concepts of coping skills such as self-soothing, emotional awareness, emotional release, grounding, mindfulness, distraction, support system, thought challenge, accessing your higher self, self-love, and opposite action. You name it, and it is all covered. I love using both of these.

COPING SKILLS WORKSHEET: Once they figure out what coping skills do, and how they help our soul, heart, mind, and body, they can choose to create their own coping skills worksheet and what they want to do add to it.
